Skilled Nursing Care
Our fellow citizens who need to be in a warm and safe place always have been and always will be the main focus of our mission at Fairport Baptist Homes. Services at the 196-bed Alvin C. Foster Residential Health Care Facility consist of a wide variety of levels of care, including skilled nursing care. Skilled nursing care is for persons whose needs range up to round-the-clock monitoring and extensive nursing care. Some residents require assistance for all the activities of daily living. Fairport Baptist Homes consists of 18 long-term care households (178 beds) and two rehabilitative care households in the Transitional Care Center (18 beds). From Hallways to Households: Changing the Culture in Nursing Homes The journey to a "new" Fairport Baptist Homes began in March 1997 and ended in August 1999 as "From Hallways to Households: Changing the Culture in Nursing Homes" came to fruition. Fairport Baptist Homes is one of the national leaders in the return to "rampant normalcy." Gone are the long hallways and the noise of carts and equipment being rolled to and fro. Gone is the "hospital" model that became so prevalent in nursing facilities throughout the nation in the 1960s. In its place is home. The 20 households consist of nine, 10 and 12 residents each, and each household is a traditional family home -- a radical departure from the "hallways" concept that exists in almost all nursing homes throughout the nation. Admission is open to all regardless of age, race, creed, color, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, or source of payment. Payment mechanisms include private pay, Medicaid, Medicare, and long-term care insurance.
