Seasons Child Care

Senior Options for Independence (SOFI), a volunteer-supported program sponsored by Fairport Baptist Homes in partnership with the Fairport Perinton Senior Living Council, help Fairport and Perinton residents age 60 and over to maintain their independence as they age.  Residents younger than 60 years, who have one or more impairments that make it difficult to carry out everyday tasks, may also be eligible.

SOFI provides information and linkage to home support services that enable Perinton residents 60 years and older to continue living independently at home or in an apartment.  SOFI guides seniors, their families and caregivers to information and makes referrals for friendly visits, housecleaning, yard work, home repairs, safety checks, meals, transportation, assistive devices (such as a walker or hearing aid), help with daily care, financial and legal counseling, long-term planning, help with benefit forms or questions regarding health insurance and entitlements.

Transportation SOFI provides door-to-door and wheelchair-accessible transportation service within the Town of Perinton for medical appointments and essential errands for Perinton residents age 60 and older.  Transportation (not wheelchair accessible) outside of Perinton to medical appointments is also available.  A suggested donation based on the trip is requested.

Volunteers
Volunteers are essential to the SOFI program.  Volunteers of all ages are needed to help their elder Perinton neighbors stay safe, healthy and secure in their own homes by assisting them with tasks they can no longer easily accomplish such as shopping, friendly visiting, telephone reassurance, minor home repair, meal preparation, transportation, light housekeeping, and yard work.  When someone can no longer safely climb a stool to change a light bulb, a volunteer can make all the difference in the world!  Time commitments are flexible.

Seasons Child Care: a World of Wonder and Wisdom Seasons Child Care is owned and operated by Fairport Baptist Homes Caring Ministries and is located on the campus of Fairport Baptist Homes. It is licensed by the New York State Department of Social Services. Seasons is a nonprofit childcare organization and serves children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. A kindergarten WRAP Around program accommodates kindergarten-age children for the "other" half-day when they are not in school. Bus service is provided between Seasons and schools for pupils who attend Fairport Central Schools. Seasons Child Care operating hours are 6:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The center offers competitive rates based on weekly, daily or hourly schedules. Staff members are hired according to NYS Department of Social Services regulations and the policies of Seasons Child Care and Fairport Baptist Homes Caring Ministries. Our staff provides wonderful opportunities for the children through their expertise in early childhood education and care. We encourage all our staff to continue studies in the early childhood education field. A visitor to Seasons Child Care will find the children laughing, learning and playing as they are cared for and mentored by a loving professional staff. Every day the Seasons team dedicates itself to assuring care of the highest quality for our children. Every development group has an educational program which is appropriate to the ages of the children and which offers a wide variety of hands-on learning experiences. Seasons believes unconditional love and acceptance is the cornerstone of healthy, happy living. With this belief as our primary focus, we have created a safe and welcoming environment for children, their families, and the residents and patients of Fairport Baptist Homes. During a time when families can feel pulled in many directions, Seasons offers a comforting opportunity to explore and embrace intergenerational relationships. The character and appreciation of our residents and patients of the Fairport Baptist Homes brightens each child’s day just as the children’s energy rejuvenates the adults. Collectively, we grow and flourish through shared activities. Each of Seasons' programs is designed to offer a wide variety of age-appropriate learning experiences. We focus on the children’s interests and encourage them to actively explore their surroundings through touch, feel, experimentation and creation. Our hands-on environment builds children’s confidence and helps them believe they are capable learners.

We pay particular attention to each child’s individual needs to ensure his or her growth and development in the following areas: – Physical fitness – Social and emotional development – Cognitive skills – Creativity – Language progression Field trips are an integral part of our pre-school program, including special intergenerational trips that take place periodically. Families are always welcome to participate in these unique learning experiences. Listening is a vital skill that opens the door to learning, mutual respect, sharing and caring. We help children develop listening skills naturally through storytelling, reading, talking and playing. Our older friends share their experiences through conversation and activity. Healthy self-esteem is fostered through positive behavior management techniques that rely on active listening. This is the menu for an intergenerational childcare program: "Take the wisdom and experience of age, add the energy and innocence of youth, mix with love, and something wonderful will happen."
