The Alzheimer's Special Care service of Fairport Baptist Homes accommodates residents throughout 18 small households. Most special care residents live with the general population. About 30 residents who wander at risk live in three secured households. These households are designed for the care of cognitively impaired persons, particularly those who demonstrate wandering-at-risk behavior and/or those who are overwhelmed by the requirements of daily life tasks. The goal of special care is to maintain individual residents at their optimum functioning level as long as possible by utilizing each resident's mental and physical functioning skills. Fairport Baptist Homes provides a pleasant and therapeutic physical environment and promotes maximum staff and family involvement through education. Payment mechanisms include private pay, Medicaid, Medicare, and long-term care insurance.
